In the Sháh Námeh, Tahúmers, the son of Hushang, encounters the demons after ascending to the throne. The demons, realizing their defeat, petition for mercy, promising that if spared, they will teach him a remarkable art. Tahúmers consents, and the demons bring their books, pens, and ink, instructing him in the art of reading and writing. Through their guidance, Tahúmers’ mind is enlightened, gaining knowledge that he later shares with his people.
Ferdowsi. (1013 CE). The Sháh Námeh.
This collection of sketches has been selected from a large number of drawings and designs. In my view, a sketch is something distinct from a painting or an architectural plan — it is a fleeting moment captured between thought and form.
Architectural sketches primarily emerge from the early stages of project design, where initial ideas flow freely onto paper.
Sketches function like visual notebooks, containing notes and poems, though at times they also include other forms such as dreams, reflections, or fleeting thoughts. For this reason, this collection is accompanied by some of my short poems — works that take a form similar to haiku and further highlight the poetic dimension of the sketches.
